Job Description:


We are seeking a highly motivated and creative individual to join a group of Oncology in vivo scientists at AstraZeneca. As an In VivoSenior Scientist, you will support AstraZeneca’s industry-leading drug portfolio within the Oncology In Vivo Biosciences Team. Based in our state of the art Biohub facility in Waltham MA, you will work in a cross-functional and highly matrixed environment and lead the in vivo pharmacology strategy and deliverables for both early and late stage projects to support the development of new and successful cancer therapies.

The In Vivo Oncology bioscience group at Astrazeneca is looking for cancer biologists with in vivo experience to join our highly successful and exciting cell death program with two molecules in clinical development.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Design, execute, interpret and deliver in vivo screening cascades to support lead optimization and candidate selection for new drug target programs.

  • Deliver comprehensive in vivo pharmacology data packages for drug candidates in early clinical development, including PK/PD and efficacy studies, dose and schedule optimization, and in vivo combination studies.

  • Evaluation of pathway biomarkers and endpoints from in vivo studies.

  • Bring in new technologies and approaches to improve or replace existing disease model platforms that better predict clinical response.

  • Present scientific data internally and externally to the scientific community.

  • Work collaboratively with colleagues across multiple disciplines to develop and implement aggressive work plans and timelines.

Minimum Requirements:

  • PhD in biological sciences, with 3+ years relevant experience in industry or academia.

  • Strong background in pharmacology concepts in oncology, demonstrated by a proven track record of high productivity and scientific publications in peer reviewed journals is essential.

  • Experience conducting in vivo pharmacology studies in rodent tumor models, including dose-finding tolerability studies, PK/PD studies, and efficacy studies.

  • Experience developing and working with complex in vivo models of cancer, such as patient-derived xenograft models, humanized models of cancer, orthotopic xenograft models, and metastatic models of cancer.

  • Experience across multiple platforms such as flow cytometry, qPCR, ELISA, Mesoscale and Luminex to develop and analyze PD biomarker endpoints in tumors and tissues.

  • Ability to lead from the bench in problem solving and in the development of innovative solutions.

  • Highly motivated scientist capable of working independently as well as part of collaborative teams to deliver common goals.

  • Attention to detail, excellent organizational, communication and presentation skills
