This is an exciting role for a seasoned external communications professional. The role has diverse accountabilities and close engagement with senior leaders as wells as corporate affairs professionals across the global organisation.
Candidate Focus & Challenge
Plays a key role in facilitating editorial planning for the Global Corporate Affairs function. Supports the AZ ‘editor in chief’ in raising standards in priority content development, maximising content commissioning and ensuring optimal application of priority content against priority communications channels.
Manages key development projects and day-to-day stewardship of the AstraZeneca brand. Serves as a centre of excellence for the AstraZeneca brand, including:
Brand architecture/identity guidelines
Visual identity guidelines and visual libraries/extranets
Development of signature brand programmes/visuals
Integration of the corporate brand strategy in a wide-range of business applications including but not limited to commercial/marketing programmes, workplace/facilities strategy, employee value proposition applications and recruitment marketing.
Develops and manages corporate messaging - the basis for many business unit/country corporate communications materials/content.
Responsible for dynamic, compelling and strategic corporate content within relevant areas of the corporate digital ecosystem including astrazeneca.com and social channels.
Develops corporate communications content/collateral for central use and for use as templates/best-practice for business unit and country-specific customisation. May include items such as: corporate videos, visual content, speaker kits, digital/traditional corporate brochures, corporate advertising, event materials.
Supports development of the Company’s Annual Report with accountability for ensuring the narrative, copywriting and design deliver to the highest standards.
Leads development of the quarterly briefing for the Senior Executive Team and Investor Relations for financial results announcements.
Candidate Knowledge, Skills & Experience
Strong capability in developing and delivering integrated and impactful corporate communications programmes across multiple channels and stakeholders with demonstrable measures of success.
Familiar with best-practice content management and editorial planning at large organisations.
Strong capability in development and stewardship of all facets of corporate branding (positioning, identify/architecture, visual assets, guidelines, integration throughout organisation, evolution in line with business objectives).
Expert copywriting, design oversight and editorial skills.
Experience of creating and translating scientific / technical content for a broad range of audiences.
Strong understanding of corporate communications including corporate/annual reporting.
Solid channel management, digital skills and knowledge of technology options.
Able to manage external resources/agency partners in the areas of corporate communications, corporate reporting, design/corporate branding.
Resilience under pressure.
Experience of working in a highly regulated sector.
Experience of managing and influencing stakeholder relationships at all levels.
Confidence around most senior leaders and global Corporate Affairs colleagues. Comfortable delivering alternative viewpoint and holding others to account.

Able to develop and maintain networks across business and cultural boundaries
