AstraZeneca Pharmaceuticals LP Director, Therapy Area Engagement - Global Digital Excellence in United Kingdom

We seek a Director, Therapy Area Engagement Global Digital Excellence to be accountable for working with their respective Therapy Area Leadership Team (TALT) and Global Marketing Franchise Heads to develop effective digital strategies leveraging innovative content, customer-centric programs and multi-channel campaigns designed to amplify the science of AZ’s medicines. The incumbent for this role has deep skills in digital marketing and effectively engages, influences and challenges key stakeholders to gain support for and fully leverage and operationalize GDE initiatives. This individual ensures satisfaction with, and oversees ongoing, continuous improvement of, new and existing GDE capabilities.

The Dir, GDE understands the evolving digital ecosystem (technology, tools & devices), has an in-depth understanding of the science behind our medicines and experience working across global teams using strong leadership and communication skills. This leader has demonstrated cultural awareness and experience to develop and motivate their peers and extended team members located across multiple business unit functions and geography’s in the Global Product and Portfolio Services (GPPS) group and Oncology Business Unit (OBU). They have in-depth commercial and/or medical experience working across digital channels and touchpoints, strong leadership skills, business acumen and solid understanding of process solutions.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Identifies and understands trends in technology and customer experience that contribute to innovative solutions to support their respective Therapy Area and Global Marketing Franchise strategic plans.

  • Leads the introduction and incorporation of digital acumen into Therapy Area strategies and owns the digital roadmap for the Therapy Area.

  • Identifies and builds relationships across the teams supporting the Therapy area (GDE, marketing, medical affairs, corporate affairs, regulatory and legal).

  • Works with the GDE capability leads and the global brand teams to steer the development of effective innovative content to be used across the spectrum of digital technology, tools, devices and touchpoints in support of AZ’s goals.

  • Leads communications to GPPS/OBU leadership teams (TALT and Global Marketing Franchise Heads) about core GDE-led programmes and projects including updates on milestones, funding required and timelines. Secures endorsement and sponsorship and collaborates with the Market Engagement Team to align on target market deployment.

  • Works with peers across GDE and the global brand teams to design scalable customer-centric programs and multi-channel programs, aligned to the global Therapy Area strategies to drive awareness, trail and use of AZs medicines.

  • Identifies potential new GDE capabilities to support the expansion and impact of digital technology and supports colleagues to fully incorporate them into our roadmap.

  • Leverages utilization metrics and reporting to communicate overall adoption of and satisfaction with GDE services. Where there are gaps, works with GDE and TALT, and Global Marketing Franchises to identify opportunities for improvement to increase efficiency.

  • Demonstrates comprehensive understanding and application of all relevant policies, procedures and operational frameworks for GDE, GPPS and AZ.

  • Ensures GDE colleagues and indirect reports comply with all appropriate AZ Code of Conduct policies and procedures.

Minimum Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s Degree

  • Solid leadership experience in pharmaceutical, healthcare, consulting and/or advertising industries

  • Exceptional strategic thinking, judgement and executive influencing skills

  • Demonstrated experience defining digital strategies to serve the needs of patients, caregivers and/or healthcare providers that provide business impact

  • Clear understanding of the external landscape and critical trends in consumer and enterprise digital health and wellness technologies impacting AstraZeneca

  • Oral and written fluency in Business English

  • Programme management understanding and practice

  • Experience in business cases development through strategic insight and sound financial business acumen.

  • Demonstrated experience building trusted relationships with Sr. Leadership and other key stakeholders
