We have an opportunity for an outstanding Project Manager to join our innovative Diagnostic Project Management team. In this role you'll be critical to the delivery of diagnostic tests that target AstraZeneca medicines to patients most likely to benefit. The role involves international travel and management of budgets of over $10m, coordinated with rapidly changing business priorities. Precision Medicine is an integral part of our approach to discovering and developing new medicines; we are developing biomarkers and diagnostics in 80% of our clinical development pipeline. As a Diagnostic Project Manager working within a cross-functional project team, you’ll ensure delivery of diagnostic tests, working with diagnostic experts and diagnostic company partners, to agreed milestones and budget, synchronized with the timelines of the drug development process. You’ll be responsible for the delivery of these projects to costs, time and quality, across all phases of development, including business-critical projects approaching regulatory submission and launch. You’ll also ensure that project teams and senior stakeholders take into account risks and scenarios associated with delivery.
The Diagnostic Project Management team, located in Sweden and the UK, includes Project Managers, Information Managers and a Project Coordinator and is part of our Policy, Portfolio and Externalisation group within the Precision Medicine & Genomics (PMG) function.
Accountable for diagnostic project management for a group of projects, delivering to time, budget and quality, aligned to the agreed PMG strategy.
Agree and manages project plans including activities, resources, costs, roles, responsibilities and quality assurance. Identifies, controls and mitigates risk
Manage interactions with diagnostic company partners for the franchise, and direct Project Coordination and Information Management activities.
Apply highly developed specialist knowledge and skills in project management, project planning, budgets and methodologies, taking a hands-on approach to drive business deliverables.
Manage relationships with key business stakeholders to ensure business requirements are effectively captured and committed to project objectives.
Manage a portfolio of smaller projects or one large and complex programme. Oversees the development of strategic risk analysis, scenario planning and subsequent control plans and actively uses these to assess the effect of changes in terms of risks, costs, timescales and resources; involves other organisations/stakeholders as necessary.
Contribute to the PMG resource model, providing accurate information to enable prioritization across the function.
Provide accurate project and portfolio information, metrics, scorecard and risk tracking.
Qualifications, Skills and Experience Required:
Project Management certification or equivalent experience
Experience of effective programme/project management, with a proven track record of delivery
Demonstrate strong communication and relationship building skills
Evidence of leading and developing innovative solutions that impact within a business area
Strong networking/consulting skills with good internal/external links
Ability to interpret and communicate technical information into business language
Proven track record in delivering high risk programme/projects and decision making
Proven skills and experience of managing and controlling budgets
Ability to convince and manage negotiations within an organisation
Understanding of principles, applications and management of Safety Health and Environment (SHE)
Degree or equivalent experience in relevant subject
Understanding or interest in personalized healthcare and diagnostic tests
Proven record of project management delivery in a complex business environment
Experience of collaborative international project team working
Previous experience in a similar role
