AstraZeneca Pharmaceuticals LP Senior Business Analyst in Petaling Jaya, Malaysia

As a Senior Business Analyst you will play an essential role in supporting the Finance Lead in the delivery of the team objectives. This includes supporting the new team, building knowledge and driving the culture within IFS.

You will be the subject matter expert and point of escalation for your team and support them in both their day to day activities and personal development.

You may be required to use your expertise to lead or contribute to special projects across IFS.

Line management

  • Responsibility for managing and motivating a team of 4-5 Business Analysts, ensuring that the team delivers to the highest standard of customer service whilst adhering to global process and all relevant financial controls.

  • Management and allocation of resource across the Business Analyst team. Work closely with the Customer Leads (key internal customer) to identify and resolve performance issues that may impact on delivery of agreed service levels.

  • Building excellent working knowledge of customer requirements and business drivers which are shared and understood by your team of Business Analysts. Coaching and development of staff will be integral to building a customer orientated mindset.

Statutory reporting, Tax, Treasury

  • Responsible for month end close for your area of expertise

  • Owning calculations and interpretation of Tax calculations, both direct and indirect

  • Ensuring and sharing best practise in financial compliance related matters across the team

  • Providing robust, quality month end financial information to stakeholders

  • Proactive interaction with stakeholders to provide inputs, challenge and outputs at key submissions

  • Interpret financial data, and use knowledge and understanding of customer’s business, to deliver quality variance analysis and insightful commentary for management reporting on a timely and accurate basis

  • Work with external partner to ensure timely and accurate submission of local statutory reporting to relevant authorities

Other role requirements

  • Assist in better business decisions by provision of financial expertise and insightful analysis to all ad hoc queries in line with SLA, and provide support to on-going projects

  • Ensure corporate governance standards are met, taking accountability for effective operation of relevant financial reporting controls

  • Identify opportunities for standardisation and simplification across the process area on a continual basis

  • Leading standardisation and simplifications initiatives across region, connecting to wider IFS team globally

Essential Criteria

  • The role holder will be a qualified finance professional or equivalent, with 6+ years accounting / controlling / experience

  • English Language proficiency, both verbal and written, with the confidence to express clear opinions and ability to explain financial issues to non-financial management

  • Experience of change management and building engagement

  • Sound understanding of the finance processes in the scope of IFS Global Services

  • Ability to work well in and across diverse global teams

Desirable criteria

  • Experience of working in a customer orientated organisation

  • Knowledge of Pharma Industry

  • Cross-boundary experience, including building relationships remotely and cross-culturally

  • Experience of working in a matrix organisation

  • Team Supervisory/people management experience
