AstraZeneca Pharmaceuticals LP Portfolio planning and Workforce Manager in Macclesfield, United Kingdom

  • Lead a small dedicated team of workforce planning and portfolio managers supporting two large IT organisations with a combined workforce of c.1000 people and opex and capex portfolio budgets of c.$20m

  • Support a large, geographically diverse, virtual team in all aspects of workforce planning and portfolio management, engaging and educating project teams and team managers to ensure consistent compliance to workforce planning and portfolio processes

  • Mature and continually improve the governance structures supporting project teams and overseeing projects to understand and communicate financial and resource and delivery positions, variances and impacts to plans and mitigations

  • Support project teams to build quality business cases, whilst being the point of constructive challenge

  • Work collaboratively with central Finance, HR and central Business Performance teams to continually improve processes that link into central portfolio, resource and financial planning processes

  • Work closely with finance, HR, central business performance and enterprise portfolio teams providing formal forecasting and ad-hoc requests for data and analysis as required

  • Deliver regular portfolio and workforce planning performance reporting to LT, including delivery of portfolio communications to key stakeholders, focussing on communication of business benefits from strategic projects

  • Establish influential relationships with senior stakeholders to ensure management of workforce plans, govern and track contractor and consultant usage, forecast, vacancies, recruitment and approvals

  • Support strategic workforce reviews and re-organisation activities acting as a lead interface from CSIS and EUS into central business performance, finance and HR teams

  • Support the CSIS LT with the analysis of current and future skills requirements and training needs

Education, Qualifications, and Experience


  • Experience in business performance management or portfolio management

  • Experience in IT business or financial management

  • Experience engaging and communicating with senior stakeholders, director and VP level

  • Advanced skills using the suite of Microsoft Office products


  • Broad knowledge and experience of IS/IT activities

  • Finance background
