Global Category Manager– IT

We now have an exciting opportunity to work in one of our IT Procurement Categories. You will manage a varied project portfolio of Software and Software as a Service related services. You will be involved in delivering a range of varied and complex projects in the category. A key part of this category will be supporting emerging technologies and innovation, and a keen interest in technology trends would be helpful.

Key accountabilities:

As a Global Category Manager, you will oversee the implementation of category plans to ensure that the underpinning process improvements and procurement activities deliver the expected business value in line with strategic plans. You will be supporting the Global Category Lead to develop long term strategic plans and support in strategic relationship management.

You will advise on and drive the procurement strategies for the category, making decisions necessary to purchase products and services in line with organizational objectives. You will own and drive the preparation of competitive bids, quotations and proposals with pertinent specifications, terms and conditions. You will develop and manage internal and external relationships with suppliers, other category and cross functional teams.

In this role, you will analyse and resolve issues raised in procurement audit reports and advise on contracts and agreements for the category.

Whilst the role has primary responsibility for a specific category or group of categories, the team works on a flexible basis and therefore the role holder will be expected to work across other sub categories when the need arises.

Essential Requirements:

  • Experience of working in global or regional procurement/category management roles

  • Background operating in a similar complex, matrix, global organisation like AstraZeneca or similarly heavily regulated industry

  • Leading projects that are aligned with enterprise-wide business/Procurement needs

  • A track record of leading category management activities at enterprise level

  • Experience of managing and building relationships with senior business stakeholders

  • Exceptional communication and negotiation skills

  • Strong analytical and financial skills

Desirable Requirements:

  • Experience of working with suppliers and supplier engagement in IT would be of interest
