Main Duties and Responsibilities

The Management and Leadership Development Trainer provides cross team services to the Medical and Commercial (US and Global) personnel. The incumbent will participate in the identification or development of coaching, selling, soft skills and FLSM training. The Management and Leadership Development Trainer serves a member of a content development project team to develop appropriate training content and learning approaches and to efficiently and effectively train global and medical personnel across the oncology business unit. The Management and Leadership Development Trainer contributes to the overall success of the OTD team by identifying ways to continuously improve the learning process and enhance learning effectiveness. Success factors for this role include the ability to develop learning and development experiences that result in measurable improvement in the capabilities of learner populations and training content that can be leveraged across the OTD organization.

  • Consults with AZ stakeholders to identify current business needs, align content development around related competency development, assess learners’ current abilities and identify performance gaps.

  • Evaluates and effectively leverages existing or new vendor partners as appropriate (cost and impact) to deliver training. Facilitates content using both "off the shelf" and custom designed content. Ensures learning content is delivered as designed; makes recommendations to content developers to continually improve the global content and design.

  • Participates in the selection of best in class means of training delivery and design, e.g., eLearning, self-study, computer-based training, audio/video, classroom and experiential learning, learning paths, etc., to ensure learners have multiple avenues for the development and ongoing refinement of their soft and complementary skills.

  • Administers learning evaluations and assessments to ensure targeted levels of effectiveness and impact of learning programs to achieve business outcomes; uses these data to inform the ongoing quality of training content.

  • Maintains relationships, contact and communication with learning program participants and cohorts for coaching, follow-up and continuity of blended learning completions.

  • Researches, develops and disseminates post-training performance support and reinforcement tools to sustain behavioral change and drive improved performance and business outcomes.

Essential Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in a related field

  • Three (3) years’ experience delivering training in a pharmaceutical business environment

  • Ability to manage a varied set of responsibilities

  • Ability to work effectively in a cross-functional team environment

  • Collaborative abilities; demonstrated experience working in cross-functional project teams and coordinating internal resources to leverage the knowledge of the full team to deliver desired results

  • Credible understanding of AZ disease areas to align business acumen concepts with the impacts of therapeutic applications; ability to demonstrate aptitude for continued knowledge development

  • Demonstrated written and verbal communication skills to author content; translate and communicate business concepts

  • Strong project management skills; with demonstrated ability to focus on effective planning of submission of project deliverables and adherence to project milestones and final deadlines

  • Demonstrated analytical and problem-solving skills to assess learners and stakeholder needs, anticipate and resolve L&D challenges

  • Demonstrated ability to utilize widely-known business software applications (e.g. MS Office Suite) to organize, analyze and synthesize information

Desirable Requirements

  • Advanced degree in a related field

  • Five (5) years’ experience delivering training in a pharmaceutical business environment

  • Knowledge of instructional systems design preferred.

  • Pharmaceutical sales or leadership experience preferred.

  • Experience in global markets preferred

  • Advanced knowledge of information/technology systems that support learning and development initiatives, to make recommendations regarding learning platforms.
