As a Respiratory Business Manager, VA/NC/SC/GA/North FL you’ll play a pivotal role in channeling our scientific capabilities to make a positive impact on changing patients’ lives. North American Commercial is the ‘face’ of AstraZeneca and MedImmune to our many healthcare clients. They represent many of the most well recognized and respected products in the industry, and build strong relationships with healthcare professionals.
AstraZeneca holds a unique position in respiratory disease, including asthma, chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD) and idiopathic pulmonary fibrosis (IPF), with a range of differentiated potential medicines in development by leveraging novel combinations, biologics and devices. The pipeline also has a number of promising assets in inflammatory and autoimmune diseases within areas such as psoriasis, psoriatic arthritis, gout, systemic lupus and rheumatoid arthritis.

Main Duties and Responsibilities
You will be responsible for the execution of AstraZeneca Specialty Care products in Respiratory Biologics and the assigned programs. Programs include Buy & Bill physician volume based rebate, ordering process and supported services.
Respiratory Business Manager:
In addition, these account leaders will build strong relationships with key business decision makers while appropriately partnering with other field roles (sales, FRM, Market Access)
Account leaders will be required to have a strong business acumen and the ability to execute fiscally responsible product contracts with targeted customers that support company goals and create greater access for patients.
In addition to the above-mentioned skill sets, this position will require account based management, business acumen, problem solving, diplomacy, managerial courage, organizational agility, and excellent communication skills
Respiratory Business Manager -. The specific duties assigned to this position that underpin the assignment remit;
- Delivering Results: The RBM will execute Buy & Bill physician programs and services to a targeted group of business leaders in Respiratory Biologic accounts.
2.Developing/Nurturing thought leaders: Build relationships with key biologic business thought leaders to improve regional views on targeted AZ products. .
- Developing and executing institutional regional business plans.
Individuals are responsible for targeting and prioritizing execution to a variety of customers based on approved target lists. These may include, Allergist, Pulmonologists, Practice Administrators, CFO, and Practice Managers. An effective business planning process should be developed and executed with all cross-functional team members.
Developing and effectively executing account plans. Based on national and region strategy, RBMs will be expected to develop and execute business plans that may be account specific or part of the overall regional/national strategy. Effective business planning will include: (1) determining priority and investment level for each account; (2) defining account objectives and developing action plans; (3) identifying/targeting and promoting to key individuals; (4) effectively executing business plans and appropriately meeting specific customer needs; and (5) involving, triaging, and communicating with the proper member(s) of the regional team including Market Access, Brand, Reimbursement, and Medical to accomplish objectives.
Developing and maintaining customer relationships. This includes identifying and utilizing internal resources to meet customer needs and developing key customers as product and AstraZeneca advocates, including development of national and regional thought leaders, as well as serving as a conduit to the broader organization for business partnerships.
Assisting in the development of long term strategies that support AstraZeneca and the nation's objectives. By developing and maintaining strategic relationships with key Buy & Bill practices to include top down administration as well as thought leaders. The RBM will be in a position to understand medical business trends, developments, and system priorities. This should allow the RBM to advise and help develop long term partnerships on behalf of AstraZeneca
Maintaining effective, on-going communication within the Regional Business. Individuals in this position are expected to initiate and maintain an effective, two-way communication with internal Sales teams, Managed Markets personnel, Field Reimbursement, and other cross functional counterparts as appropriate. Serve as a regional leader and participate in all key state initiatives and cross-functional meetings as appropriate. Effective and timely use of all available communication channels and tools (voice mail, e-mail, and telephone) is expected.
Tracking market intelligence that may positively or adversely affect marketing practices and business. This includes constantly monitoring the competitive environment (e.g., new product entrants) and/or any healthcare policy changes/initiatives, which may impact market position. These insights will help inform commercial and assess strategies and approaches.
Maintaining specific account records that pertain to interests. RBMs are expected to develop, maintain, and consistently update a comprehensive customer database as specified in the AZ CRM platform. Additionally, complete reports and maintain records as per AstraZeneca policies.
Responsible for maintaining a high degree of honesty, integrity, diplomacy, and ethical behavior within the business unit. Serve as a role model to other members of the business unit team.
A four-year college degree, preferably in a scientific/medical or business discipline or relevant experience is required.
3+ years of Buy & Bill business experience in the Specialty Pharmaceutical, Biotechnology, or Medical Products industry and/or 3 years of sales success at AstraZeneca Specialty with endorsements from appropriate members of AstraZeneca Specialty's sales management team is required.
Experience with complex dynamics of biologic distribution and acquisition at both inpatient and outpatient level is strongly preferred.
Experience with executing product contracting agreements with customers
Recent Experience in the Respiratory Therapeutic Arena preferred
