Global Commercial Impact Overview

The Global Commercial Impact (GCI) organisation acts as the bridge between commercial strategy and execution building and providing key commercial capabilities. GCI designs and drives convergence on commercial focus and excellence to sharpen AstraZeneca’s commercial impact. GCI partners with therapy teams, regions and the markets to drive a sharper competitive edge. It is comprised of two pillars:

Global Commercial Capability centre of Excellence Global Commercial Operation teams embedded in Therapy Areas (TA) to define core deliverables in line with Brand strategies

The GCI organisation focuses on 3 strategic priorities:

Sharpen and update the expertise on the key components of Commercial Excellence to redefine our common AstraZeneca way for specialty care and primary care Strongly link commercial excellence to Brand and TA strategies to enable specific content and capability development in line with brand strategies from the start Reinforce the guidance, support and challenge brought to the markets by GPPS and the regions

Respiratory Commercial Operations Team Overview

The Respiratory Commercial Operations team will comprise 8 global experts across Biologics and Inhaled. The team will be tasked with marshalling all our global resources, through the Biologics and Inhaled GBT’s to co-create then lead delivery of world class execution of our coherent Respiratory strategy. This effort is designed to enable key markets to deliver industry leading launches for Benralizumab, Bevespi, PT010, Symbicort AIR and our promising Respiratory biologics pipeline. Additionally, the team will look to challenge / support our most important markets (B12) to maximise brand value across the In-line Respiratory franchise with the main focus being on Symbicort. Respiratory Commercial Operations will sharpen AstraZeneca’s Commercial competitive edge to impact commercial results by:

  • Delivering co-created Global Launch and In-line Strategies consistently through the GBT out into local implementation in our biggest markets

  • Creating, launching and embedding new industry leading Commercial Capabilities and tools

  • Producing innovative ‘Integrated Patient Solutions’

  • Reviewing, challenging and guiding, commercial performance at global, region and market level to ensure we realise our bold ambition

Candidate Focus and Challenge

  • Responsible for delivering co-created Global Launch Strategies consistently through the Global Brand Teams (GBT) out into local implementation in our biggest markets

  • Deep understanding of both the AstraZeneca and Commercial vision. The candidate will use this to plan future biologics launch strategy and lead execution (B12) enabling the company to deliver ‘best in class’ launch and truly lead the industry

  • Develop new innovative metrics with Effectiveness Lead that will measure launch impact and inform the future of our brand strategy vs. the key competitors

  • Leading a AGILE, disciplined approach, challenging and holding markets and cross functional team members to account to drive the launch agenda within the Global Brand and Market teams (B12)

  • Using future trends to inform and create a launch strategy that meets the demands of AstraZeneca’s future pipeline of launches

  • Owns ‘launch’ within the Brand Strategy Reviews and uses this to drive world class execution with our biggest markets

  • Seen within AZ as Biologics launch tought leader / Global launch expert throughout the launch process and beyond, providing industry best practice driving and challenging to ensure that the relevant capability tools and assets are fully utilised in all markets and GBT

  • Ochestrate a transparent and co-ordianted working relationship between the GBT, Respiratory Commerical Operations, GCI, Regions and (B12), driving alignment and effective communication

  • Thought leader on the internal tools, assets and capabilities available to GBT and Launch teams and incorporating these into the launch strategy to deliver seamless and industry leading launches

Candidate Knowledge, Skills and Experience

Essential Requirements

  • Expert understanding of the underlying and rapidly evolving science across Respiratory Biologics TA

  • Experience in Respiratory, Biologics and/or specialty care environment

  • Led a sales force and/ or marketing organisation in a marketing company

  • Proven ability to draw insight and commercial advantage from a sales or marketing leadership position and apply this to provide a competitive advantage

  • In depth experience of the complex Respiratory customer ecosystem with proven ability to deploy new capabilities that exceed expectations

  • Experience of leading sales and/or marketing organisation through launch and / or significant change

  • Experience of being able to challenge, influence, contract and drive change with the most senior stakeholders across different functions in a matrix organisation

  • Ability to take globally deployed capabilities and tools through flawless market implementation leading to transformational performance

  • History of impacting commercial performance at a country level

  • Seen as a thought leader who regularly demonstrates entrepreneurial spirit and plays to win

  • A courageous individual who regularly challenges the status quo in the right way

  • A proven ability to build a common agenda, motivate and engage people on meeting a common goal
